Whau River, Queen Mary Reserve

Boat Date is a river cruise, a discussion and a performative experience just for you. The journey of discovery travels up the Whau River into the heart of West Auckland in The Question Put.

Over the course of the journey up and back down the river I’ll introduce you to the river and the hidden backyards of New Lynn. We’ll share some food and talk about boats, politics and whatever is on both of our minds.

The Question Put is a Gloucester Light Dory, a small, shallow-draft row-boat. It was hand built by Melissa Laing in 2013 as a boat and an artwork that can be used to interrogate the world. Melissa has been taking people out on the waterways of West Auckland since 2016.
