Whau Community Arts Brokering is a community service supported by the Whau Local Board tapping into the existing creative community in the Whau area to support the presentation of a range of temporary arts activities and activations in our urban environment.

By brokering arts activity by and for the people of the Whau we aim to nurture and share the cultural and creative vibrancy of our Whau communities.

Through conversations, walks, public events, performances, exhibitions and workshops we’re activating public spaces, streets, parks, town and community centres, and empty shops across the Whau area to build our creative culture and community.

Established in November 2014, the role has supported 115 projects over the 7 years Melissa Laing was the broker. These projects spanned the artforms of Dance, Theatre, Film, Comics, Poetry, Music, Story Telling, Photography, Social exchange, Painting, Cultural Performances, Talks, Sculpture, and Animation.
